Linda cruised her black 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air from Hartsville, South Carolina to Myrtle Beach to participate in the Wheels at the Beach Car Show, September 5, 2009. The weather was perfect for enjoying the two-hour; ninety-eight mile trip in an iconic classic American automobile, and Linda’s view through the windshield from behind the steering wheel of her Bel Air was special that morning. Her grandson Lee, who was driving the recently completed 1935 Hudson Terraplane, accompanied Linda. A vehicle that Linda and her late husband Larry, who passed in April 2009, had started together in 2001. Continue reading →

When Corey was asked about the history of his Dad’s 1966 Pontiac GTO, he replied, “It’s the classic story of a guy was going through a divorce and needed to get rid of it. Harold’s first car was a 1948 Chevrolet and as is the case with many, the Chevy and Harold parted ways. Thirty years ago, Harold purchased this 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero Sedan, simply for no other reason than it was the same model as his first car, and brought it home where it sat in the garage for thirty years. Inspiration, resourcefulness, chassis knowledge, an immeasurable amount of elbow grease, and a modest sum of money, is what Joe used to build his unique 1951 Ford Pickup in less than eight months. The inspiration came when Joe agreed to do the chassis for another project. “Well a friend of mine had two doors and a dash for a ’53 Studebaker and he said he was going to build a car. So I went and helped him. I went over to the shop and I built the chassis for it.” That’s when the light bulb came on in Joe’s mind. “I told my son, if he can build a car with two doors and a dash, I know I can build one with a whole cab.”

Joey and Larry are proud onwers of this 1955 Chevrolet 210 with flames that appear to flicker and come to life. The couple first purchased this hot rod after a frame-off restoration twenty-five years ago. The couple had it two years and then sold it.
“About six years ago it came back up for sale and I bought it back,” said Larry. “This is the only car that I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a few, that when I sold it my wife got mad. So I knew right then when the car came back up for sale, I don’t know whether it appeased her or not to buy it back, but I bought it back anyway and she’s tickled to death with it.” Continue reading →
