This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS was garaged from February 15, 1967 through October 12, 2006. When a classic car has been in storage for this length of time it is common that the transfer of ownership is the reason the vehicle is back in action. That is not the case with this Chevrolet.
The white on red Impala SS was built the fifth week in July of 1962 and was purchased by Wes August 7, 1962 from Sanlee Chevrolet in Sanford, North Carolina. After 39.8 years of the car being in hibernation, the original purchaser of this Impala SS is still the owner today.
When Wes had the front end worked on, he went ahead and replaced the gaskets on the 350hp 327cid engine and the original 4-speed transmission rebuilt. The paint, interior, headliner, and trim along with the engine and transmission are original to the car. Wes also has the original wheels and center caps for the car and favors driving the aftermarket wheels.
Wes cruised the ’62 SS to the Memorial Run for Fun, May 24, 2008 in Morrisville, North Carolina.
