The Maulers hosted the 2nd Annual Port City Rumble in Wilmington, North Carolina. The day was overcast and had a light drizzle of rain however that didn’t dampen the spirits as fans of traditional hot rods, rat rods, and kustoms cruised in from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia to attend the rain or shine event.
The show was open to pre ’67 hot rods and traditional motorcycles, bobbers and choppers. Home built hot rods and bikes were joined by some radical pedal pushers and the ten dollar show registration fee included entry credentials to the live bands that were jamming later that evening.
The “no trailer queens” show policy and “dirt don’t hurt” mentality of the Maulers gave the blue collar set of wheels an event all their own. The Port City Rumble is a show for real cars that are driven and the owners have grease under their nails and thirty weight that won’t wash out of their best set of Levi’s.
With so many other shows passing out trophies for pro built vehicles, it’s refreshing to know there are events where the garage grown gear heads receive some recognition. The Port City Rumble, put on by car people for car people, is one such show.
For the folks who change their own oil, may have a set of tools in trunk instead of a flat screen television, and are fed up with the shows where they are parked next to the multi-thousand dollar corporate advertising investment, the Port City Ruble in Wilmington, North Carolina is for you. If your favorite colors are wide white, flat black, and chrome, don’t miss your chance to attend the 3rd Annual Port City Rumble scheduled for October 11, 2009.
Carsolina thanks the Maulers CC of Wilmington, North Carolina and all the people who came out to support the 2nd Annual Port City Rumble.
