If you haven’t heard of Bill Tripp and his Classic Car Meet well you are in the majority. If you are one of the few that has attended the small “guys night” gathering at Ocean Isle Collision, then you are one of the lucky minority that look forward to it every month.
The Classic Car Meet is held the second Thursday of every month at Ocean Isle Collision, of Hwy 17 in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. The official start time varies depending on who you ask.
This is probably due to their answer being based on what time they can arrive and that’s as soon as possible. Anywhere around six is when most arrive but don’t let that stop you from coming early or not showing up at all. You can count on someone being there til dark-thirty.
To help expidite your arrival, the crew at Ocean Isle Collision not only moves their work to the side of the lot to make room for hot rods and street rods, but they also fire up the grill and ice down sodas. So there are no excuses about running late because the speaker was broken at the drive-thru.
There are several guys that come up from Myrtle Beach, SC. The rods the come north on Hwy 17 drive past Ocean Isle Collision to where they can make a U-turn, and then back to the shop. In front of the Ocean Isle Collision is the point these cars are downshifted and brakes are applied and rumble of exhaust is heard.
On the flip side, the guys who traveled south to the shop, head south when leaving to where they can make a U-turn and head back north, and it is about this same spot that upshifting and acceleration takes place.
Registration, fees, awards, trophies, are not a part of this event. It’s just a good group of guys hanging out and talking cars, lending ideas, and sharing knowledge about hot rods. If this sounds like fun to you, bring your classic, hot rod, rat rod, muscle car, or cruiser to the next Bill Tripp’s Classic Car Meet.
Cash donations are accepted for the food and the money raised is donated to support the efforts of the Brunswick County Motorcycle Enthusiasts Charity Toy Drive, helping kids in the county.
Bill Tripp said, “There’s only one rule. If you spin the tires when you leave, then you’re allowed to come back.”
Carsolina would like to thank Ocean Isle Collision, Bill Tripp, and all the guys at Bill Tripp’s Classic Car Meet.

The events calendar alone is worth coming to Carsolina.com, but when I have the pleasure of reading quality writing like this about an event, I feel lucky to have this stuff for free! This site will keep me coming back for the information and the ENTERTAINMENT. Thanks Carsolina.
