Sunday August 2, 2009, the newly formed Cruzerz Car Club hosted their first show, Rumble at the Creek. The event was held at Home Depot in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Registration for the show was free and the turnout had over sixty vehicles sign up the day of the event. Even with bands of thunderstorms moving through the area the show still had hot rods rolling in.
The oldest car in attendance, made in 1918 by the Dodge Brothers, cruised down from Wilmington, North Carolina, hitting some rain along the way. A few of the vehicles that turned out for Rumble at the Creek included a supercharged VW bug, a ground pounding Chevrolet Nova named “Novacane,” and a Chevrolet 3100 Panel Truck still hauling with the 216 cubic inch, inline six. There was an assortment of Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Corvettes, and Mopar powered cars in the mix also.
Rumble at the Creek had periods of sun and rain and with a storm on the way that would seal the deal, the schedule was adjusted and the award ceremony was held earlier than planed. The awards were just as fun as the vehicles they acknowledged. The winner of the Best Grill Award received a charcoal grill and the winner of the Longest Rake Award for the bicycles received a leaf rake.
The Home Depot was celebrating customer appreciation day and had cold drinks, fresh cotton candy, popcorn, and face painting for the kids inside. Outside there were carnival games set up, all made from items found in Home Depot. A basketball hoop made from a toilet seat lid and a ring toss game made from PVC pipe, both a creation of the plumbing department. Not to be left out, the lumber department built a beanbag toss game. But what had the children standing in line was the dunk tank. With an unlimited supply of ammunition in the form of tennis balls, every kid was successful at hitting the target.
The Cruzerz scored a bull’s eye when it comes to putting on a fun event. The Cruzerz membership is less than a dozen and just the idea of the club is only a few months old. With a focus of more fun and less politics, the Cruzerz Car Club is surely going to grow. Carsolina congratulates the Cruzerz on their first event and thanks everyone who came out to support Rumble at the Creek.

Was great to see you again and we will see you Oct. 10 at the Port City Rumble
Cruzerz and myself would like to thank you for coming out to show support and to see us. We also want to thank for your kind words. With people like you, spreading the gospel of hot rodding, it lives forever. Much love, Ms. Jalopy
