David’s 1917 Dodge Brothers Roadster

“I’m assuming you’re going to call this a rat rod,” said David. “Rat rod, hot rod, racecar, what ever you call it, I want it to handle good and I want it to be fast. I even feel like I’m taking the easy way out with the big block Chevrolet. I feel like I’m cheapening out by not putting the 671 Detroit Diesel in it.

Byron’s 1931 Ford Model A Six Shooter

I figure, as many cars as I’ve painted and as many collision repair jobs that I’ve put back together and back on the road, and as many patch panels and other things that I’ve done to cars, and fighting rust my whole entire life, why not have one with a little bit of patina. I’ve waxed enough.

Keith’s 1966 Pontiac GTO

“He took six hundred bucks for it”, Corey exclaimed. The seller informed Keith that he could never get the 1966 Pontiac GTO running, but that didn’t discourage Keith and his son Corey from taking it home and begin wrenching on it.

Harold’s 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero

We had just put all the chrome back on it. We were getting ready to detail it to go to York and my Grandfather was backing it out of the garage. His driveway is a big hook and when he backed it out he swung it too tight and almost ripped the front left fender off the car.

Joe’s 1951 Ford Pickup Truck

“We got it pulled out of the woods and it was all rusted out, so we cut ten inches off the bottom,” said Joe. “Put a new floor in it. Built the chassis. Got the motor out of a boat and put in it.” The Ford 351 Windsor marine V8 engine was bolted to a C6 automatic transmission that came out of a junkyard in Newport News, Virginia. The seats were also reclaimed from a salvage yard.

Joey and Larry’s 1955 Chevrolet 210

Larry doesn’t plan on making the same mistake again. “This car, that’s the old story. Everyone’s got one that got away. I’ve got a couple a let get away I wish I had back, but I got this one back. I won’t be buried in it, but let’s put it this way, someone will have to wait till I die to enjoy it.”

Robert’s 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I

Robert had a 1970 Ford Mustang when he was younger, but he let it go. He knew a woman that had purchased a new 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I from Helmold Ford. Living in the same town of Apex, North Carolina, and more importantly, being friends, Robert expressed interest to the original owner.

Jim’s 1965 Dodge Dart GT

Jim found this all original 1965 Dodge Dart GT in Florida and brought it back to Rock Hill, South Carolina. The original owner purchased the car in late fall of 1964 and treated the car with care, keeping it in a garage out of the elements when it wasn’t in use. Seventy-three thousand miles later, this Mopar retains it’s originality.

Clint & Rick’s 1952 Pontiac Chieftain

Clint drove this 1952 Pontiac Chieftain from Winnabow, North Carolina to Southport, North Carolina on May 2, 2009. The fifty-seven year old automobile was on display during the Cape Fear Cruisers Annual Show. Clint was accompanied by his young son who was standing on the front seat sawing back and forth on the steering wheel, much like a sea captain at the helm of his ship. The young navigator is the Great-Great-Grandson of the lady who bought it in 1955.

Barry’s 1936 Plymouth De Luxe Touring Sedan

When Barry first saw this 1936 Plymouth Deluxe Touring Sedan, he said, “Man, I’ve got to have that car.”
