Ginger’s 1963 Ford Galaxie 500

“I got it last January,” Ginger answered when I asked how long she had been working on it. “It was in fair condition. The original paint was still on there; it wasn’t rusted through too much. Each of the bottoms of the doors had rusted through, and that fender,” she said as she pointed towards the Ford, “I had to make it. It had no trunk channels and I had to make all them. It was eaten through.”

Sue’s 1968 Plymouth Barracuda

“I had over two hundred thousand miles on the engine when I put it down in my garage”, Sue said. “I had reverse, but I was losing third, and my speedometer wasn’t working and my odometer wasn’t working. I had to gauge how far I was driving so I wouldn’t run out of gas and finally I decided it was about time I needed to put the car up.”

Brenda’s 1930 Ford Model A Murray Touring Sedan

“Jeff looks more like a rat rod owner, more than yourself,” I said to Brenda. “I get that, I get that,” Brenda said bursting into laughter. I added, “So most of the people here are probably going to address their initial question about this car to him.” “They do,” responded Brenda. I asked, “What is their reaction when your husband points at you and tells them that this is yours and you built it?”

Mary’s 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster Is A Sweet Thing

Mary learned to drive in a 1967 Oldsmobile 442 with a manual transmission. “I only had two problems,” Mary said. “I had to sit on a cushion to see over the dash and I turned a good set of street tires into slicks before I got control of the pesky clutch. “

Sandra and Her 1965 Mercury Comet GT Caliente

Sandra had some money saved and the 1965 Mercury Comet GT Caliente was in her care a week later. “Billy talked me into it and I ended up paying for it; that’s why I call it mine,” Sandra explained. “So it always has my name when we go to anything. It’s my car. Billy and his brother-in-law had no idea I would buy it.”

Sheri and Her II Chevys

“My husband bought it because I already had my car,” Sheri stated. “I have a 1964 Chevy II Nova and he wanted a car too so he picked this one up. Today he went fishing so I got to pick between the Chevy Chevelle and the Chevy Nova as to which one to bring to the show.”

Alice’s Forgotten 1969 Ford Thunderbird

“I see men give me a smile, like yeah, ok, she has a car, and every so often you see the women elbow there husband and whisper, ‘she has a car’. And if you’re that wife go ahead and stab your husband in the ribs and say, ‘hey she has a car.’ And if you want one, get one, and have that sense of pride.”

Linda’s 1935 Hudson Terraplane Coupe

The man asked Linda “This is a Terraplane isn’t it?”
After his inclination was confirmed he replied, “Is this by chance the car that belonged to the guys that worked on the dairy farm?”
Linda answered, “Yes it is.”
“I have put many a bag of groceries in that car when I was a teenager,” the man declared.
Linda laughed and responded, “Well, there won’t be any groceries delivered in it now.”

Linda’s 1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible

Since July 17, 1965, Linda has been able to claim this is “My ’65.” She ordered this 1965 Ford Mustang GT through the local dealership in Belmont, NC and took delivery before the tires hit the show room floor.
