I figure, as many cars as I’ve painted and as many collision repair jobs that I’ve put back together and back on the road, and as many patch panels and other things that I’ve done to cars, and fighting rust my whole entire life, why not have one with a little bit of patina. I’ve waxed enough.

1996 NSRA 27th Street Rod Nationals

July 18, 1996 was cloudy day that so far had a steady drizzle of rain. I was following my Dad as wondered around a muddy gravel parking lot that was roped off and and designated as the swap meet area during the 27th Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

Goodguys 16th Southeastern Nationals

The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association held the 16th Southeastern Nationals this past weekend in Concord, North Carolina at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This Goodguys event was open to vehicle models of 1972 and earlier.

For twelve years the California based Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has held the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus, making Ohio the destination for thousands of hot rodders, street rodders, custom cruisers, and muscle car go-fast gear heads.

Goodguys 15th Southeastern Nationals at Lowe’s Motor Speedway

The highlight of the weekend came Saturday evening during the track cruise. Participants were given the opportunity to take their vehicles out on the racing surface under the lights and cruise on the NASCAR speedway at highway speed or better.

Goodguys Rod & Custom 14th Southeastern Nationals

The hot rod and custom car event included the participant’s favorite track cruise Saturday evening under the lights. This is no sight-seeing tour, as driver’s get a chance to flex a little muscle as their classic vehicles achieve speeds around the triple digit mark on the odometer as they cruise the same super speedway that hosts several NASCAR races each year.
