With showers popping up all around the area, some participants drove through rain on their way to the second Tuesday Is Cruiseday prsented by Carsolina.com Cruise-In. It did not rain at Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q in Leland, NC where about 40 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods cruised on out, including David, accompanied by his daughter, who debut his radical 1918 Dodge Brothers Roadster.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010 was hot with temperatures in the mid 90′s in the afternoon with a threat of thunderstorms in the area. The 1st Tuesday Is Cruiseday Cruise-In presented by Carsolina.com was scheduled to start at 5pm however some cars arrived well before the official start time. Bubba cruised his orange and white big block Chevrolet El Camino SS in from Winnebow, North Carolina and was set up by 3pm. It wasn’t long after that muscle cars, street rods, vintage and classic automobiles of all variety started to fill the parking lot of the Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q in Leland, North Carolina for the 1st Tuesday Is Cruiseday Cruise-In presented by Carsolina.com.

Carsolina.com will be there and will have a feature on the 1st Carsolina.com Tuesday Is Cruiseday Cruise-In at Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q at 2020 Olde Regent Way in Leland, NC. Turn into the Waterford entrance of Hwy 17, make the first right, and look for the balloons! See You There!

I figure, as many cars as I’ve painted and as many collision repair jobs that I’ve put back together and back on the road, and as many patch panels and other things that I’ve done to cars, and fighting rust my whole entire life, why not have one with a little bit of patina. I’ve waxed enough.

The Leland resident ran out of room on the window card listing all the trick features on this hot rod. The ’23 is powered by a 2003 Baja Boat 6.2 liter Mercruiser engine, breathing through a cross ram intake manifold and dual carburetor setup that had been in storage for 40 years. The 415 horse power producing combination moves the body that has been stretched 12 inches and sits on a homemade frame through a Tarentola Hydro manual shift 350 transmission. A Speedway Engineering quick change rear end out back turning the big Hoosier Racing tires, and reversed Corvair steering with sprint car steering arms out front, anchor the four disc brake calipers.

Starting off with a few dozen vehicles in the shopping center off Village Road in Leland, the event has grown and is now held off Hwy 17, in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Attracting an estimated 300 vehicles and 3,000 spectators, the 5th Annual Show started forming hours before the official 5pm start time.
